Apply to be a Peer Educator

---------------

Sistah2Sistah peer educators are young women of color ages 13 to 24 from diverse backgrounds. Located throughout the United States, we are trained to point you to great resources to help you with sexual and reproductive health concerns and other issues that are important in the dynamic lives of young women of color.

Kiera*

Hi! My name is Kiera. I am 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. I am Jamaican, white, and Indian. I like to dance and play the piano. I really like to go to parties and have fun.

I came to MySistahs looking for information for a friend. Then, I stayed to see what other girls my age have to say about HIV, STI, and AIDS. I wanted to know what they think about this epidemic that is killing so many young women. I became a peer educator because I want young people my age to see that we know about this stuff and can share what we know. Then maybe they’ll say “Wow, she knows about this stuff, maybe I should see about it, too.” Then, they’ll learn more and pass it on to their friends and so on.

I want to help young women my age learn about pregnancy and parenting. I see girls my age who are pregnant and don’t know what to do. Maybe I could help by teaching other young women of color how to use protection and, if they’re pregnant, sharing resources with them on how to deal with parenting. I’ll be so happy if you’ll give me a chance to help.

Thanks for reading my bio. Bye!!

* Kiera is a former peer educator with MySistahs. The information above was from when she was a peer educator. It is no longer updated.
