Apply to be a Peer Educator

---------------

Sistah2Sistah peer educators are young women of color ages 13 to 24 from diverse backgrounds. Located throughout the United States, we are trained to point you to great resources to help you with sexual and reproductive health concerns and other issues that are important in the dynamic lives of young women of color.

Alicia*

My name is Alicia. I am 23 and I work as a domestic violence counselor in Philadelphia. I got a bachelor’s degree in education at Howard University, and my life’s passion is to give back to my community, empower women and educate youth. I am currently in graduate school and I hope to finish within two years. My partner and I have a beautiful, two-year-old son, and I volunteer with MySistahs.

I was interested in MySistahs because of their leadership in advocating for young women of color and reproductive rights. Too often I see young Black, Hispanic and Asian women left out of the big picture, their voices unheard and their faces unseen. I believe in this work which is why I choose to help.

I am primarily interested in teen dating violence. As a mother, I am also very interested in teen parenting and teen co-parenting relationships. I feel that teens have many issues around interpersonal relationships, especially those first long-term relationships. Relationships are such a huge part of every person's world. Teens also are changing in body and mind. Young people need information so that they can make healthy decisions for their future.
