The purpose of MySistahs’ Freedom Corner is simple. It exists to provide a platform for the creative voices of young women of color.

Submission Guidelines
My Sistah’s Gallery is seeking poetry, essays and short stories submissions. We want your best work, your best poetry, your most inspired prose, whether fiction or essay.

To have your work considered, please follow our general guidelines:

• Include a brief bio (name, age, city and state).
• All work must be single-spaced.
  No gratuitous sex or profanity.
  Art work should be in GIF and/or JPEG format.
• Include the text of your submission in the body of the email, in case we are unable to open your attachment, BUT if your work contains special formatting, like italics, we recommend a Word document attachment via email.
• Send your submission to and make sure to write “MySistahs” and the type of submission in the subject line: Poetry Submission, Fiction Submission, etc.

By submitting your work, you affirm that you are the sole author, and agree that Advocates for Youth may publish, print, and distribute the work submitted. By submitting material, you affirm that you have read and agree to our submission guidelines.
